Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Elmendorf Community Services Flights on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. Flexible employees have work schedules that depend on the needs of the activity. You may work a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Flexible employees may be subjected to "on call" work in addition to hours posted on the schedule. Learn more about this agency Duties Performs and/or assists other recreation assistant or specialists in the operation and maintenance of indoor and/or outdoor recreational facilities. Types of duties include but are not limited to the following: Perform or assist in operation and maintenance of the Skeet & Trap Range facilities. Demonstrates and instructs participants in the proper use of shotguns and skeet/ trap shooting order and leads the daily activities in the upkeep and minor maintenance of skeet/trap machines. Ensures all safety requirements are met before shooting begins. In a patron usage facility, circulates among patrons to assure service is satisfactory; receives and resolves customer complaints; provides information and general instruction on the safety and the use of equipment, facilities and machinery. Issues tools, equipment and specialty items to authorized customers, checking identification, and completing proper paperwork where appropriate. Receives returned items inspecting for obvious damage and missing parts. In an Outdoor Recreation facility assists in directing patrons, scheduling the use of equipment and scheduling special trips and tours. Checks inventories and supplies and records them accordingly. Reports to supervisor any shortages. Directs activities and special events. Maintains the cleanliness of assigned work areas. Performs minor repair on equipment as directed. Adheres to safety and physical security regulations and standards. Assumes responsibility for cash during tour of duty "cash collected", checks and credit cards. Conducts inventory at beginning and end of tour. Furnishes general information to patrons (such as kinds of equipment, activities and facilities available). Maintains safe, organized, and clean facility environment by pre-inspecting areas upon opening and closing the facility. Shows initiative by seeking additional assignment from shift supervisor immediately after completion of previous assignments. Actively seeks win-win solutions to differences between staff and customers, and shows a willingness to compromise. Operates general and special purpose vehicles to include pickup trucks, 15 passenger vans, all-terrain vehicles, boats, and golf carts. May be required to travel away from JBER. This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor (30 Sept 96) of the gun control act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Qualifying Experience: Must have valid driver's license. Must have cash handling and computer experience. Applicant must have experience which provides a working familiarity with the routines and procedures followed in activities or programs; and practical knowledge and /or experience of recreational activities and equipment, rules and procedures in a recreation program activity which has involved recreation work in the area of specialty in which the position is assigned. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
