Summary The United States Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida's (USAO-SDFL) mission is to enforce and defend the laws of the U.S of America through the prosecution of criminal cases brought by the Federal government; the prosecution and defense of civil cases in which the United States is a party; and the collection of debts owed to the Federal government that are administratively uncollectible. Learn more about this agency Duties This Security Officer serves as the District's Security Officer Manager with responsibility for planning, directing and administering a comprehensive district-wide security program and managing the district's security section. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Security Officer support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of providing a wide variety of security services to promote the effective protection of property, personnel, facilities, sensitive and classified information, communications and computer equipment and other resources against criminal, terrorist and hostile activities. Typical work assignments will include: District-wide security program management: plan, direct, administer, and evaluate a comprehensive security program and the security section. Physical security: conduct and approve site surveys, threat analyses, and vulnerability assessments; oversee installation and maintenance of security systems and building modifications. Emergency preparedness and continuity: develop and administer contingency and emergency plans, including occupant emergency plans and coordination with external organizations. Threat management: develop and manage a district-wide threat management program and ensure appropriate response actions. Guard program oversight: serve as liaison; oversee guard placement, training, and evaluation. Security education and awareness: deliver briefings and manage training programs for computer security, national security information, and federal tax information; coordinate personal safety training with law enforcement. Communications security: serve as COMSEC Representative responsible for receipt, accountability, safeguarding, and troubleshooting of secure communications equipment. Information security and compliance: implement and monitor information security programs; ensure safeguarding and handling of classified and sensitive information, including FOIA and Privacy Act considerations. Incident reporting and program reviews: prepare security incident and virus reports, security plans, contractor reviews, and procedures to assess compliance and effectiveness; support EOUSA and DOJ reviews. Supervision and coordination: supervise security staff, set priorities, review work, manage performance and training needs, and coordinate district security actions with internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-12 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (4) duties listed below: 1. Planning and administering a district-wide security program, including developing and evaluating security policies, procedures, and methods for normal and emergency operations. 2. Conducting and approving physical security site surveys, threat analyses, and vulnerability assessments, and implementing corrective measures to resolve identified deficiencies. 3. Developing and managing emergency preparedness and contingency plans, including occupant emergency plans and coordination with external organizations and law enforcement partners. 4. Managing information, communications, and computer security programs, to ensure classified and sensitive information is safeguarded and handled in accordance with Privacy Act requirements?
