ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR OF WOMEN PEACE AND SECURITY

The President, U.S. Naval War College, Newport, RI, invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Women, Peace, and Security (WPS). The U.S. Naval War College: The U.S. Naval War College (NWC) is a Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) institution serving the nation, the Department of Defense, and the U.S. Navy. U.S. and selected international graduates earn Master of Arts degrees in National Security & Strategic Studies or Defense & Strategic Studies accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The College educates and develops future leaders through the development of strategic perspective, critical thinking, and cultural awareness, as well as enhancing the capability to advise and eventually serve as senior leaders and policy makers. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop and teach WPS electives and core courses tailored specifically for JPME. They will provide lectures and facilitate seminars across core teaching departments and organize faculty development and student learning opportunities. The incumbent will play a key coordination role in the successful planning and execution of NWC's annual WPS Symposium and other events. Additionally, the position will be proactively involved in research and publications; coordination and collaboration with internal and external communities of interest; and collection, analysis, and dissemination of data as required.

Qualifications: Essential qualifications include an advanced degree in a related field from an accredited university and WPS experience in one or more of the following areas: Civil-Military Cooperation; Defense and Security Sector Development; History/Regional Studies; Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response; Human Rights/International Human Rights Law; International Relations and Foreign Policy; Maritime Security; National Security; Peace and Conflict; Security Cooperation; or Transnational Organized Crime/Maritime Law Enforcement.

Additional qualifications that will make candidates especially competitive include an earned Ph.D. in a related academic field; teaching experience at the graduate level; WPS curriculum development; and an established publications record and/or editorial experience. Experience working with peers in a team environment, as well as in professional seminar settings that enhance student educational outcomes is desired.
