Summary
This vacancy is for a PROGRAM ASSISTANT (Mail Management Services) position in the Administrative and Customer Services Division located at the U.S. Census Bureau Headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. The Census Bureau is accessible from the Metro Rail Green Line - Suitland Station.

Duties
Analyzes and supports mail operations to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant processing and distribution of incoming and outgoing mail and packages (including lifecycle management, workflow monitoring, compliance, and tracking).
Coordinates mail operations activities and supports effective communication and workflow across organizational units (stakeholder coordination, task oversight, staff guidance).
Evaluates mail operations and supports process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance (process review, improvement implementation, recommendations, coordination).
Supports program reporting, accountability, and customer service related to mail operations (reporting, accountability tracking, stakeholder communication, customer service).

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of PROGRAM ASSISTANT (Mail Management Services), at GS-0303-9, you must meet the qualification requirements listed below.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-9, you must have one year of experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-7 in the Federal service. Experience for this position includes: establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders in support of mailroom operations; leading and facilitating communications with customers and senior leadership, and elevating issues for timely resolution; coordinating with project teams and stakeholders to support mail operations initiatives, and communicating program information clearly to a variety of audiences; providing operational support, planning, and coordination for mailroom activities; and collaborating with customers and staff to gather requirements, document processes, and present findings or recommendations to improve mail distribution and processing efficiency.
Education: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer.
