Summary Joining the Secret Service, Office of Strategy, Planning and Innovation, Enterprise Analytics Division will allow you to understand the intricacies and interrelationships among the Secret Service's information systems and how their data relates to the investigative and protective processes. Learn more about this agency Duties The selectee will serve as an Operations Research Analyst in the Office of Strategy, Planning and Innovation, Enterprise Analytics Division. Typical work assignments include: Leads and participates in a comprehensive range of quantitatively driven studies, including those addressing highly sensitive and critical issues directly impacting the mission of the United States Secret Service. Works with others to manage projects and studies that require new analytical methods and processes beyond standard practices. Analyzes operational activities to determine data and reporting needs, builds and maintains databases and applications, and creates tailored reports and dashboards to support decision-making and organizational improvement. Oversees the design, planning, and implementation of surveys, using advanced methods to ensure accurate and reliable data collection. Prepares and completes briefing materials, such as slides and presentations, using standard software and reporting tools. This Operations Research Analyst position starts at a salary of $102,415.00, GS-12, step 1 with promotion potential to $158,322.00, GS-13 step 10. Qualifications To be considered qualified for this position you must meet the following qualification requirements for the respective grade level in which you are applying. Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the Basic Requirements AND Minimum Qualification requirements as listed below: BASIC REQUIREMENTS: A. Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus. IN ADDITION TO MEETING THE BASIC REQUIREMENTS ABOVE, YOU MUST ALSO MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: You qualify for the GS-12 level (starting salary $102,415.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level performing duties such as: Performing complex quantitative studies on sensitive issues and serving as an expert on analytical teams. Analyzing data and creating reports to support mission performance. Using statistical software to analyze complex data, interpret results, and provide data-driven recommendations. Presenting complex analytical information to diverse audiences. OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position if the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You qualify for the GS-13 level (starting salary $121,785.00) if you possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level performing duties such as: Serving as a key resource for analytical teams, advising on the planning, execution, and evaluation of advanced quantitative analyses. Developing data systems, managing and analyzing datasets, and creating reports. Leading advanced statistical studies using innovative tools to evaluate agency initiatives and ensure accurate data collection and analysis. Preparing reports and recommendations for leadership based on findings from specialized studies, new analytical methods, and updated processes. The qualification requirements listed above must be met by the closing date of this announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
