Summary This position will be assigned to the JBSA Lackland Lodging Facilities. This is a regular part-time category position with guaranteed 20 hours per week, may work up to 40hrs/week. Employees appointed to regular category positions are eligible for benefits. Must be able to bend, lift, and work in awkward positions both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds unassisted. Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Must have a valid driver's license. This position has physical requirements which require the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. Qualifications Who May Apply: Open to everyone. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Applicant must have experience in general maintenance work to include basic carpentry, plumbing, painting, and electrical duties. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA's): You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: 1. Must possess knowledge of woodworking techniques and basic shop mathematics to plan, layout, measure, cut, construct, and install materials according to dimensional requirements and specifications where fit and accuracy are within specified tolerances. 2. Must possess knowledge of standard plumbing methods and techniques including a knowledge of flow and drainage. 3. Must possess knowledge of safety regulations and procedures. 4. Skills in joining and sealing elbows, faucets, shower drains, plastic, metal, and title pipes, and similar items. 5. Skill to operate and maintain hand and power tools and equipment. 6. Ability to read and follow specific directions that explain how to apply and use prepared solvents and hot to thin and sir coating materials. **NOTE: Those qualified applicants who meet both the minimum qualification requirement(s) and highly preferred criteria(s) will be considered best qualified for this position and will be referred to the selecting official(s) first for consideration. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD). Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government's interest.
