Learn more about this agency Duties You will work as a research engineer/scientist in the area of energetic materials research and development. You will perform laboratory operations with minimal oversight aimed at characterization, analysis, modeling and simulation, of energetic materials and their constituents. You will perform independent complex research and development and report results in peer-reviewed forums (journal, conference, meetings). You will develop original proposals/cost estimates/statements of work to secure external and internal funding for work to be executed. You will execute complex programs involving multiple personnel in different technical departments and manage necessary equipment/resources. You will participate in the safety culture and safety programs ongoing and developed at the duty station. Requirements Conditions of employment Must be a US Citizen. This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. Qualifications FOR ND-02: You must have successfully completed a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree that included a major field of study as described in the Education section of this flyer. For the ND-03: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the ND-02 (GS-05/08) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: as a professional engineer or scientist applying research engineering or scientific methods in energetic or reactive materials and development. The ND-02 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-05 thru GS-08. The ND-03 pay band encompasses positions equivalent to the GS-09 and GS-11. This announcement uses the STRL for Direct Support direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
