Summary This position is located within the VA Manchester Healthcare System, NH performing duties related to the receipt, intake, and indexing of health and administrative information, providing timely and accurate filing/scanning service to facilitate the work of the facility. Learn more about this agency Duties ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs the receipt, intake scanning, indexing, quality control, destruction, and transfer of health and administrative information. Performs a variety of record keeping, correspondence, and document tracking. Performs timely filing, retrieval, and clerical duties associated with retention, maintenance, disposition, guardianship and control of health records. Reviews documents for appropriate scanning criteria (e.g., completeness; organized). Use approved secure processes for transferring, mailing, and destroying documents. Use office machinery such as scanners, copiers, and other office equipment. Maintains confidentiality of all records and ensure health records are maintained in a secure manner. Utilizes a computer, software programs associated with record keeping and scanning, and multiple databases. Scans documents electronically associated to each specific patient or note in the associated database. Communicates with other administrative and clinical staff to locate/obtain health records. Follows established policies and guidelines to access computer codes and protect customer confidentiality. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position at the GS-4 grade level you must meet one (1) of the following: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: You must possess one (1) full year of general experience. General experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Note: Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: You must have successfully completed two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. NOTE: TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED WITH APPLICATION OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: You must possess equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience to meet total qualification requirements at the GS-4 level.
