Summary About the Position: Position(s) will be filled under the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) Pathways Intern Program. Interns NTE should be assigned work that is short-term, of a project-oriented nature or of similarly limited duration. They should primarily be assigned to help complete temporary projects or perform labor-intensive tasks not requiring subject-matter expertise or fill summer jobs. The work is like a cashier or clerk at your local grocery or retail store. Receiving change fund. Operating a cash register scanning system to list and total the prices of individual items purchased, including determining proper prices by scanning, price look-up, unit marking, or referring to price lists. Collecting payment, assuring validity of cash items accepted, and making correct change when required. The duration of the appointment in the excepted service is the trial period. Must be able to meet Visa Requirements of Country you are applying to. The incumbent of this position is required to be a current student in good standing and maintain a cumulative and term grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or equivalent for the duration of the Pathways Program. May be subject to shift work and irregular tours of duty including nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Must be at least 16 years of age. Per Department of Labor regulations, underage youths may not perform hazardous jobs. Temporary DeCA Pathways Intern cannot convert to a permanent position noncompetitively. Qualifications Who May Apply: Students who are eligible for participation in the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) Pathways Intern Program Positions are open to current students pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution on at least a half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled). Short-term training programs (e.g., several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study. Internship for current students in good standing at an accredited education. Position is Temporary not to exceed Not to Exceed 90 days or Not to Exceed Sep 30, 2026, whichever comes first. In order to qualify you must first meet the Internship Program eligibility: 1. Student Status: Current students in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate, including certain home-school curricula. Individuals must be taking at least a half-time academic course load. "Half-time" is defined by the school in which the student is enrolled. 2. Grade Point Average: You must maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher each semester. Secondly, you must meet the education requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Pathways Internship Positions: GS-01 LEVEL: Enrollment in a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) program. NOTE: If your college, vocational, trade, technical or high schools' definition of "academic year" differs from above, you must submit proof of this difference (e.g., copy of course catalog that defines an academic year). Absent this documentation, you will screened for academic qualifications based on the academic hours as defined in the bullets above.
