Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and is located at the Arts & Craft Center on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Learn more about this agency Duties This position is located in the Arts & Crafts Center of 18th Force Support Squadron Kadena AB. The incumbent is responsible for assisting other recreation assistants or specialists in the operation and maintenance of the Arts & Craft Center. Provide quality customer service, answers customers' questions and assists with product selection via phone and in-store. Takes registration for skills development classes. Operates register; collects, safeguards, reconciles, and deposits monies received from customers for all assigned areas. Inspects facility and equipment to ensure safe conditions and cleanliness. Performs basic housekeeping duties in and around the center. Issues and collects equipment and tools. Demonstrates shop techniques and ensures shop safety rules are adhered to. Provides simple instructions to children and adult craft classes. Assists in merchandising and conducting inventory. Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor. Must be physically able to lift and carry items up to and including 25 pounds and be able to work in a dusty environment. Position requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, and lifting. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty to include nights, weekends, and holidays. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required.
