Environmental Protection Specialist

Summary Provides guidance and direction relative to the compliance of environmental rules and regulations. Organizations and programs studied, though usually limited to a single region, center, or component of a line of business, are complex and interrelate extensively with other region/center or line of business organizations and programs. Records of Decision (ROD) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). Participates and provides guidance and leadership to forecasts future resource needs to manage emerging environmental issues. Oversees studies, surveys, and audits to identify environmental problems and provides corrective guidance in accordance with applicable laws and policy. Provides expert testimony and works directly with Legal Counsel on issues and guidance on environmental projects & initiatives. Trains lower level environmentalist in aviation specific environmental guidance to support FAA management and facilities. DoD proponents and Third Party developers on environmental regulations in accordance with F AAO I 050.1 E and FAA JO 7400.2K. Leads and provides expertise in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other federal and/state regulations as it relates to environmental reviews, aircraft noise analysis, and other NEPA policy relating items. Requirements Conditions of employment US Citizenship is required. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Must submit an SF50 (See Required Documents). Security Requirement: Moderate Risk (5). This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained. Subject to a 5 year period reinvestigation. Qualifications To qualify for this position at the FG-14 level you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13.
