Job Description:

Senior 3D Animators generally tackle the most challenging (and best!) shots and may be called upon to help define the tone and style of the animation on a given project. Work well independently with support and alongside teammates. Occasionally offering support to junior staff.

Previs experience, a basic understanding of sequence building, leading a small team is not essential, but would be a plus.

Responsibilities:

• Create compelling character performances that are well acted and mechanically sound
• Animate objects in believable and appealing ways
• Work in a variety of animation styles (cartoony, realistic, etc.)
• Compose and pre-visualize shots to effectively tell a story
• Tackle the most demanding shots on a project
• Provide feedback on character rigs to the Rigging Department
• Hand off shots to the lighting team per department guidelines
• Troubleshoot animation scene files
• Explore visual solutions to solve challenging client briefs
• Manage your workload to consistently meet deadlines
• Work in an organized manner respecting established workflows to allow for inter-department collaboration
• Communicate effectively and work with 3D Animation Leads, 3D Leads, Riggers, Creative Directors, and Producers on a given project

Pluses:

• Previs experience, in particular the ability to build an effective sequence of shots to tell a clear and concise story
• Thorough understanding of camera lensing -- when to use which lens for which shot
• Compositional skills -- the ability to scout a 3D scene and find the best way to stage a shot
• Maya generalist skills (modeling, texturing, rigging, lighting)
• Knowledge of Adobe After Effects or Premiere
• Drawing skills (in particular, thumbnailing, storyboarding, and even cel animation), while not required or necessary to perform the job, are always helpful for planning and communication
