Job Description

Summary This position is assigned to the Food & Beverage Division; Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) Department; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC). The primary purpose of this position is to provide identity confirmation and basic property surveillance at Food & Beverage establishments aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola. Learn more about this agency Duties Controls access to facilities and events by requesting and verifying identification from customers. Ensures compliance with rules and regulations of the facility/event. Circulates among patrons to maintain order and to prevent damage to furnishings. Removes disorderly patrons from the activity. Safeguards supplies, equipment and other items contained in or around facility. Reports fires, accidents, and any subsequent hazards, taking appropriate emergency action. Maintains maximum security of assigned area by performing area security checks. Directs foot traffic and answers questions from customers during major events. Responsible for handling sensitive personal information in a confidential manner. Filling out reports on incidents of theft or accident, when necessary. May operate MWR vehicles to move between facilities. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Must meet Federal Employment suitability requirements and successful completion of background investigation. Background investigations are conducted using fingerprint identification and completion of background inquiry forms. Must successfully pass the E-verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment. You must go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. May be required to pass pre-employment examinations. A valid State driver's license is required to operate motor vehicles. Must have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959. Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as constantly standing and walking, with occasional bending and stooping. Must have the ability to lift supplies or equipment weighing up to 15 pounds without assistance. Workers are exposed to a variety of weather elements when checking identification at outdoor venues/events. Workers can be exposed to loud music for several hours at a time Must be able to work varied work schedules to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Working knowledge of the layout of facilities and surrounding areas. Must have an understanding of how to read identification cards and process information quickly. Knowledge gained through pertinent job experience enabling the incumbent to competently review identification for verification, evaluate surroundings for potential security violations or safety hazards, and to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and management. Previous experience as unarmed security guard in retail or entertainment is desired. Must be able to understand and apply existing regulations regarding patron use of the activity and/or facility. Must have the ability to deal effectively with various members of the public, including de-escalating negative or charged interactions upset, stressed, and/or intoxicated customers. Must be able to react spontaneously and to make sound decisions often in loud, constricted and heavily trafficked areas with continuous disruptions and distractions. · Ability to read and write standard American English is required. · Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using standard American English is required.
