Job Description
Summary
About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Auto Hobby Shop, within the Community Services Flight on Columbus AFB, Mississippi.
This is a Regular Part-Time (RPT) position guaranteed 20 hours but may work up to 40 per week. RPT employees are eligible for leave/benefits.
Must be able to: stand, stoop, bend & work in tiring & uncomfortable positions; lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds & occasionally handle objects weighing up to 40 pounds.
Duties
Oversees all aspects of the Auto Hobby Shop (AHS) operation, to include, but not limited to, the repair bays, car wash, tool crib, POV Sales Lot, and concessionaire contracts. Implements higher level directives and follows local procedures and programs to ensure high standards of service. Develops budgets, tracks expenses, maintains resale inventory, performs detailed analysis of operating statements, and accomplishes short- and long-term range strategic planning. Ensure revenues and expenditures are properly recorded and accounted for to provide reliable financial and statistical reports and to maintain accountability over assets. Evaluates operating statements to determine inefficiencies and develops comprehensive business plans to strengthen financial performance. Manage real property resources and provide informed input on renovations, improvements, and minor and major construction projects. Ensures that established suspense is met in a timely manner. Develops various programs that involve customer education and community involvement. Ensures compliance with all environmental and safety procedures and policies. Manages the facility hazardous waste management program. Serves as the AHS's primary representative for self-inspection, MJCT, Safety, HAZCOM, and ESOMJS. Applies effective communication skills to establish, develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with business and industry representatives, unit leadership, co-workers, team members, and internal and external customers. Provides guidance, training and mentorship to team members on troubleshooting and repairs of motor vehicle components, to include, but not limited to, engines, transmissions, brake systems, wheel bearings, electrical systems, power steering mechanisms, axle assemblies, and vehicle diagnostics. Inspects completed work quality and quantity to ensure a high standard of output and productivity. Organizes daily work priorities, communicates assignments, and monitors deadlines based on supervisor's goals and objectives. Informs Outdoor Recreation Director of team accomplishments, training needs, performance status, attendance problems, and behavioral issues. Coordinates staff scheduling, leave approvals, complaint resolution, and recruitment efforts. Operates government and customer vehicles. Performs other related duties as assigned.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Must have experience performing the following duties: Managing or leading a business activity, to include planning programs, training employees, creating budgets, maintaining inventory, supplies, and retail items, marketing events, and providing excellent customer service; conducting a full
range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on motor vehicles; and delegating the work of other staff to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must successfully complete a favorable Tier I background investigation. Must have and maintain valid US and driver's license. This is a designated drug testing position; the incumbent is subject to random drug testing thereafter. A pre-employment physical exam is required to ensure the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and endure the physical vigor's of the position.

Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.

U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
