Summary About the Position: This position is located at NAVAL MED CENTER CAMP LEJEUNE. Learn more about this agency Duties Performs maintenance on items including but not limited to commercial centrifugal chillers, reciprocating units, rotary units, heat pumps, cooling towers, air cooled condensers, walk in and reach in freezers, refrigerators. Performs preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and systems within the facility. Repairs and/or installs sophisticated heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. Select trade tools and/or precision instruments for repairs. Diagnose system problems by visual and/or audible examination. Troubleshoot equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to isolate problems. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position may require the incumbent to possess and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. License/Certification required: EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Recovery license/certification required at entry or within six months of employment. This position requires you to have a secret security clearance. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Air Conditioning Equipment Mechanic ~ without more than normal supervision. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. I have the ability to perform the full range of air conditioning and refrigeration maintenance. I am skilled in installing, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting, mechanical pneumatic and hydraulic precision equipment and control devices. I work on my own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection. License/Certification required: EPA Section 608 Universal Refrigerant Recovery license/certification required at entry or within six months of employment. Physical Efforts: Work requires the incumbent to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in uncomfortable positions. The incumbent frequently lifts, carries and sets up tools, equipment, parts that weigh up to 50 pounds. Occasionally may lift and carry item over 50 pounds Working Conditions: Works inside buildings, shops, and outside, Subject to contact with dirt, dust and grease and to shocks and burns from high voltage, cuts, and bruises.
