If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Performs a variety of administrative tasks using an automated system which involves: assigning, maintaining, monitoring, or updating work status and inventory records; ordering research; acknowledging correspondence; maintaining, updating and initiating personnel records; timekeeping; and performing other support activity. Identifies and reviews Forms W-2 attached to Forms 1040EZ and 1040PC for conditions meeting Criminal Investigation criteria and code the returns appropriately. Prepares and maintains regular production/inventory reports/attendance records using established formats and sources of data applicable to the program, functional, or organizational reporting requirements. Prepares special reports as directed. Requirements Conditions of employment Probationary Period - All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. If no certification is made before the probationary (or trial) period ends, your appointment will be terminated. Key Eligibility Requirements: U.S Citizenship - Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Selective Service Registration - Males born after December 31, 1959 are required to be registered with the Selective Service System or prove they are exempt from having to do so. Personal Identity Verification (PIV) - Must provide 2 forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. These documents must be unexpired original or certified copies. Experience may have been gained in the public sector, private sector or through Volunteer Service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-timework is considered on a prorated basis. You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: GENERAL EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION GS-04: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements to qualify at this grade level: At least one year of general experience. General experience includes progressively responsible clerical, office, or administrative support work that demonstrates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position. Examples of qualifying experience include: Entering, reviewing, updating, or correcting information in databases, records systems, or spreadsheets. Organizing, maintaining, retrieving, or filing paper or electronic records and documents. Receiving, sorting, distributing, tracking, or processing mail, correspondence, packages, or other materials. Responding to routine inquiries and providing general clerical or administrative support. Using office equipment and computer software to complete clerical assignments. OR Successful completion of two (2) years of education above the high school level from an accredited junior college, college, university, business, secretarial, or technical school. OR A combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of general experience. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION GS-05: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position includes experience such as: Entering, reviewing, validating, and correcting data in records systems or databases, including identifying missing, incorrect, or incomplete information and taking appropriate action to resolve errors. Organizing, maintaining, and retrieving files or records, including resolving recurring filing or records management issues and distributing work-related information to support office operations. Receiving, sorting, processing, packaging, labeling, tracking, or distributing mail, documents, packages, or materials, including operating mail or office equipment. Performing clerical or administrative support duties in accordance with established procedures and deadlines. OR Successful completion of four (4) years of education above the high school level leading to a bachelor's degree, or a bachelor's or higher degree. OR A combination of education and experience equivalent to one (1) year of specialized experience. AND You must also meet the following requirement(s): MINIMUM AGE REQUIREMENT: Minimum age for federal employment is 18 years old, or at least 16 years old and have: Graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or Completed a formal vocational training program; or Received a statement from school authorities agreeing with your preference for employment rather than continuing your education. Education A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
