Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position requires independent judgment and initiative with minimal supervision, consulting leadership as needed. Performance is evaluated on effectiveness, timeliness, and technical quality.

Duties
Leads fire safety efforts by setting standards, guiding projects, and ensuring buildings meet safety requirements from planning through completion.
Reviews designs and inspections to identify fire risks and directs fixes to keep facilities safe.
Provides expert advice on fire safety rules and works with engineers and partners to apply them correctly.
Consults with teams and customers to solve fire safety issues during design and construction.
Inspects sites and systems to confirm proper installation and operation of fire protection features.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirement: This position has a basic entry requirement. The entry requirement requires completion of education or a combination of education and experience sufficient to be comparable to that normally acquired through the completion of a four year course of study with a major in the professional or scientific field. Please refer to the Office of Personnel Management Individual Occupational Requirements for possible ways to meet the basic requirements.
Basic Requirement Fire Protection Engineer 0804 series: Fire Protection Engineering Series 0804 (opm.gov)
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
Specialized Experience GS-13: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in reviewing designs, plans and specifications for fire protection systems; conducting pre-design surveys to obtain data for Fire Protection systems; and/or participating in the testing of Fire Protection systems. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
This position has selective placement factor which must be met prior to employment and for continued employment. Selective Placement Factor: This position requires a current, active, valid and unrestricted license as a Professional Engineer (PE) in a state, the District of Columbia, or a territory of the United States.
Education
FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest.
