Learn more about this agency Duties You will perform industrial hygiene inspections, surveys and evaluations individually or as part of a team. You will evaluate the need for quantitative assessment of air contamination, noise and other physical stressors as well as the quantitative assessment of ventilation systems. You will recommend engineering controls to correct deficiences. You will provide consultation and advice to activities on occupational health problems and concerns. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems. This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. The incumbent must be immunized on an annual basis again influenza. Certification in comprehensive practice by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) is highly desired. Qualifications GS-12 Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience working independently in all aspects of IH program management, including survey and report generation, customer support and exposure monitoring recommendations. Experience generating detailed and accurate written reports. Experience using DOEHRS-IH database. Experience providing oral and written feedback to customers. Experience assessing hazards in industrial environment and recommend appropriate controls. Education The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: A bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in industrial hygiene, occupational health sciences, occupational and environmental health, toxicology, safety sciences, or related science; or A bachelor's degree in a branch of engineering, physical science, or life science that included 12 semester hours in chemistry, including organic chemistry, and 18 additional semester hours of courses in any combination of chemistry, physics, engineering, health physics, environmental health, biostatistics, biology, physiology, toxicology, epidemiology, or industrial hygiene; or Certification from the Board for Global EHS Credentialing (formerly American Board of Industrial Hygiene(external link) (ABIH)). Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable. Additional information This announcement uses the DHA for Certain Personnel DHA (g) Medical/Health.
