Summary
About the position:
This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation on Nellis AFB, NV.
Flexible employees have no guaranteed hours but may work up to 40 hours per week. This position does not offer benefits.
Must have an approved nationally recognized certification in lifesaving and water rescue methods and skills, basic first aid training, and CPR (both child and adult) training.
This position requires the incumbent to pass basic swim test.

Duties
As a working leader, performs the following types of duties: provides day-to-day advice and guidance to employees for work assignments; relays instructions from the supervisor for work assignments; gets the work started; demonstrates work methods and provides work-related guidance; ensures that the work site materials and tools are available. Keeps supervisor informed of any problems or unusual circumstances that may arise. Responds to patron inquiries and concerns, relays information to supervisor. Enforces all of the facility's policies, rules, and regulations. Ensures that the general care and cleaning of the facility and the maintenance and minor repair of equipment is accomplished. Inspects the facility on a daily basis and reports any unsafe conditions and equipment to supervisor immediately. Maintains records, reports, and information regarding the following: hourly patron attendance, water chemistry, incidents, etc. Assists management with workload requirements. Performs all required lifeguard duties. Maintains current certifications. Provides swimming lessons and instruction to groups of adults and/or children, or to individual adults or children. Instructs patrons on rules and procedures for safe swimming. Prepares lesson plans. Prepare pool facilities and necessary equipment prior to class time. Put away any equipment used for lessons. May work uncommon tour of duty to include days, nights, weekends, holidays, and family days.
Continuously observes swimming area to ensure safety of patrons. Ensures the swimming area is open to patrons at scheduled times and that only authorized persons are admitted to the area. Rescues swimmers in trouble, promptly administers first aid, and calls for medical assistance if and when needed. Warns swimmers of unsafe environmental or health conditions, or hazards, and recommends closing swimming areas until safe conditions prevail. When working at pools, may operate water pumps and control chemical additives to ensure pool water meets specified standards.

This position requires the incumbent to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Background Investigation with Inquiries and State Checks.
U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation.
This position requires the incumbent to be at least 17 years old.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
Qualifying Experience:
Experience which provided a practical knowledge of swimming activities, rules, and procedures; skill in the use and maintenance of various pool and safety equipment is desirable.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
