Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, positions report to local leadership in Anadarko, Oklahoma; Anchorage, Alaska; Billings, Montana; Gallup, New Mexico. Learn more about this agency Duties As Realty Assistant (Generalist/OA), GS-1101, your typical work assignments may include, but not limited to: Communicates with beneficiaries, lessees, land owners, and the general public regarding process options, documentation, and other needs associated with contracting activities. Is responsible for advertisements/publications, verifying data which is utilizing to process applications for contract. Assists with administrative duties, records management, processing correspondence, reports, time and attendance. Screens incoming correspondence prepares and processes replies to routine inquiries and assembles any required supplemental material and submits for signature. Requirements Conditions of employment U.S. Citizenship Required As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you will be required to serve a 1-year or 2- year probationary period during which your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest will be evaluated A background security investigation will be required for all new hires. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Selectee is required to operate a government motor vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license, and have a safe driving record within the 3 year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607. AN INCENTIVE MAY BE AVAILABLE FOR HIGHLY QUALIFIED CANDIDATES AT MANAGEMENT DISCRETION. A SERVICE AGREEMENT WILL BE REQUIRED. TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE. Qualifications EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, GS-1101). GS-5: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-4 in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience includes assisting specialists who process and approve subsurface leasing, leasing, permits, easements and rights-of-ways, and word processing, either solely or in combination with clerical work - for example, preparing realty correspondence, maintenance of logs and clearing and categorizing files or documents to aid in delivery of documents or files to the appropriate file format. OR EDUCATION: 4 years of successful completion of a full course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. GS-6: I have at least one year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-05 grade level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience includes assisting specialists who process and approve subsurface leasing, leasing, permits, easements and rights-of-ways, and word processing, either solely or in combination with clerical work; accepting applications for leasing activity; record completed approvals, disapprovals, awards in the appropriate automated system; assist in identification of lands available for lease from expiring leases or through review of land reports. GS-7: I have at least 1 year of full-time specialized experience or the equivalent, comparable to at least the GS-6 grade level in the Federal Service (obtained in either the public or private sector). Specialized experience includes processing conventional realty transactions; advertisements for lease/contracts; process leases, assignments, permits, and agreements; reviewing transactions, land descriptions, appraisals, and other clearances to determine compliance with statutory authority, laws, regulations, tribal ordinances, policies, and procedures; provide information and assistance to the beneficiaries and clients about the contracting process, options, and documentation. PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENT: In addition to meeting the experience or education requirements, applicants must show possession of typing and office automation skills. Applicants may meet the typing requirement by passing the appropriate test, presenting a certificate of proficiency from a school or other organization authorized to issue such certificate by the Office of Personnel Management local office or by self-certifying their proficiency.. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
