Summary
This position serves as an Emergency Actions Specialist in the Justice Command Center (JCC), located in the U.S. Department of Justice, Justice Management Division, Security and Emergency Planning Staff, Office of Command Resilience. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Watch Officer in the JCC, with an emphasis on emergency management in a secure 24-hour facility operating in support of law enforcement and national security programs.

You must be a United States Citizen or National.
You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
You may be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
Selective Service registration is required for males born on or after 12/31/1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance.
Must be able to pass a polygraph test.
Must be able to work rotating shifts, which include day shifts and night shifts.
Must be able to lift items such as computer printers, central processing units (CPU), and facsimile machines.
Must be able to perform effectively under extreme pressure for extended periods of time.
Must be able to access crawlspaces with limited or restricted access to troubleshoot cable connections.
May be required to work extended hours.
Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Emergency Actions Specialist, (GS-0301-9/11), you must possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you are applying to.
For the GS-09
Specialized Experience: For the GS-09, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: Providing recommendations for emergency policies or procedures; Responding to emergency action messages; AND Drafting emergency incident or exercise reports.
OR
Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
For the GS-11
Specialized Experience: For the GS-11, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: Recommending new approaches to improve emergency management or response procedures; Implementing emergency policies or procedures; AND Advising leadership on critical incident management.
OR
Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
