Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION. This position is for a MATERIALS HANDLER (SMALL SHOP CHIEF), Position Description Number D1909000, and is part of the MT Army National Guard, G8 Warehouse. (A copy of the Position Description can be obtained from HRO upon request.) Selecting Official: MSG Matthew O'Brien Duties (1) Serves as a Small Shop Chief performing all of the following tasks: (a) Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the individual and lower graded worker(s). (b) Possesses the knowledge and skills found at the journeyman level as well as those required for planning, accomplishing and maintaining a functional shop maintenance program. (c) Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures such as how and when the work should be accomplished. Estimates manpower, equipment and material requirements. (d) Devises and maintains all program plans and records, is skilled in surveillance and troubleshooting techniques, and is able to determine maintenance/repair procedures needed without benefit of technical supervisory guidance. (e) Plans, organizes and directs shop maintenance programs/procedures under general supervision. (f) Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. (g) May provide recommendations and input to the supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, leave, etc. (2) Performs the same type and level of work as performed within the unit. (3) Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Appointments in the Title 32 MTNG technician program may terminate/suspend your military incentives; please see your MTNG Retention Office/Military Personnel Incentive Program Manager for details. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. External applicants must be able to start within 6 months of selection. Qualifications Military Grades: Enlisted E1 - E7 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the ability to compare item identification against receiving reports and issue request forms; skill in using hand trucks, dollies, and other equipment to move stock; ability to use hammers, pliers, and other hand tools; and to follow oral and written instructions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience performing inventory and inspections to determine serviceability of stocked items. Experience in interpreting and applying written instructions, reference materials, publications, and manuals. Experience in setting up and rotating storage locations considering factors such as life expectancy, available space, product turnover, etc. ***(MUST address your experiences in detail on resume as they relate to these general and specialized experiences, to be considered for this position)*** Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
