Exciting Opportunity: Inpatient Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) - Neurosurgery at Mercy Health Neuroscience Institute
Job Description
Position Overview:
As an APC within our Neurosurgery specialty department, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive care to our inpatient neurosurgery patients. Your role will encompass a range of clinical duties, including conducting history and physical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing medications, and formulating diagnoses. You will also provide patient and family education, all while working closely with a multidisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive inpatient care for neurosurgery patients, demonstrating a high degree of clinical expertise.
- Perform history and physical assessments, order and interpret diagnostic tests, manage medications, and formulate diagnoses.
- Execute procedures such as ICP monitor placement and VP shunt placement and removal.
- Collaborate with neurosurgery attendings, residents, nurses, and other clinical/ancillary staff throughout your shift.
- Engage in handoffs at the beginning and end of each shift, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
- Utilize virtual visit technology (Intouch devices) if needed.
Patient Base:
- 70% Trauma Service
- 30% Elective Service
Qualifications:
- Board Certified Advanced Practice Provider (APP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with the ability to obtain a medical professional license in the State of Ohio.
- Ability to obtain a DEA license with full prescriptive authority.
- Proven expertise in inpatient neurosurgery services.
