Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley Space Force Base is searching for a Director of Operations, Training, and Force Development to support Mission Delta 4 (S3/7) (NH-0343-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).
DescriptionOperations and Readiness:
Serves as the central point of contact for the MD4 Commander on all matters related to operations, training, and readiness. Oversees the MD4 current operations, ensuring timely and accurate tracking and reporting of mission status, system capabilities, and Commander's Critical Information Requirements (CCIRs). Directs the creation, dissemination, and tracking of all operational orders (OPORDs, FRAGORDs, etc.) on behalf of the MD4 Commander. Coordinates Global Force Management (GFM) and deployment taskings, ensuring MD4 meets all sourcing requirements.
Force Development and Training: Oversees and provides guidance for the implementation of the SPAFORGEN (Space Force Generation) model, overseeing mission area phasing, readiness, and exercise participation to generate combat-ready forces. Directs the MD4 Ready Space crew Program (RSP) and the Evaluator Certification Course (ECC), ensuring all personnel meet rigorous training and evaluation standards.
Strategic Engagement and Integration: Represents the MD4 S3/7 directorate in meetings with higher headquarters (CFC, USSF), USSPACECOM, and other external partners to resolve operational matters and ensure concerted action. Develops and maintains effective working relationships with subordinate units, Deltas, and national organizations (NSA, NRO, etc.) to assess customer needs and resolve complex issues.
Ideal Candidate:
Serves as the Director of Operations, Training, and Force Development (S3/7), exercising control over assigned personnel and leading the directorate's efforts in current operations, future operations, and force generation. The Director is responsible for developing, coordinating, and sourcing combat-credible forces, training and validating those forces, and providing mission-ready personnel to meet Joint and Service requirements. This position ensures the operational readiness and continuous improvement of Mission Delta 4's warfighting capabilities.Extensive space and/or cyberspace operations experience is highly desired.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
1. Comprehensive knowledge of Missile Warning & Tracking, Missile Defense, Space Domain Awareness, Battlespace Awareness, Joint Publications (e.g. JP 5-0, JP 3-14), USSF, USSTRATCOM, and USSPACECOM functions, operations, policies, and procedures, with expert understanding of space operations.
2. Expert knowledge of the SPAFORGEN model and the Department of Defense Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process to develop and support major operational plans.
3. Mastery of warfighting capabilities and operational planning, with the ability to integrate diverse mission areas (cyberspace, space control, global mission operations) to meet national requirements.
4. Proven ability to lead, organize, and direct the functions of a complex organization through subordinate supervisors. This includes the ability to mentor, motivate, and appraise staff performance effectively.
5. Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to clearly and concisely convey technical and operational information to senior leaders, external agencies, and subordinate units.
6. In-depth knowledge of safety and security regulations, including the handling of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Programs

Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret w/SCI clearance.
A non-disclosure agreement must be signed.
This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
This is a Supervisory position being filled.
Required to handle and safeguard sensitive and/or classified information in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.
May be required to work overtime on an unscheduled or emergency basis.
Employee may be required to perform travel by military or commercial passenger aircraft in the performance of temporary duty assignments.
Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
Subject to Temporary Duty Assignment (TDY): 30 days a year.
Employee must within 30-days of assuming this position and annually thereafter, file an OGE-450, “Confidential Financial Disclosure Report. Employee is required to attend annual ethics and procurement integrity training.
This position is an Excepted position from furlough for Protection of Life/National Security.
