Summary This position is part of The Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts (the Center). The incumbent will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, modification, and servicing of a wide variety of locking devices, door hardware, systems and security mechanisms on interior and exterior doors. Learn more about this agency Duties - Installs, repairs, and services door hardware, mechanical and electronic locking systems, including cylindrical locks, mortise locks, deadbolts, magnetic locks, panic hardware, electric strikes, card access systems, biometric readers, and safe-lock mechanisms to ensure the security and functionality of doors, cabinets, vaults, and containers. - Plans, designs, and implements master key systems for multiple user levels, ensuring access control, minimizing key duplication, and supporting overall building security strategies. - Assist with physical security for door locking mechanisms needs during construction, renovation, or system upgrade projects, providing technical guidance and specifications on the selection, placement, and installation of locks, door hardware, and access control components. - Performs preventive maintenance on locks and associated hardware, ensuring they remain in proper working condition and extending their operational lifespan. Qualifications EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Physical Efforts and Working Conditions: Considerable physical effort is expended to maneuver large equipment such as safes, door hardware, key cutting machines, into and out of specific locations while dismantling and reassembling. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasionally lifts objects weighing more than 75 pounds to set up work and equipment needed to complete tasks. Hoists, holders, and pulleys are operated when removing units such as large motors, compressors, condensers, chillers, switchboards, and transformers. Necessary repairs and installations may be made from ladders, scaffolding, lifts and platforms where the parts of systems worked are frequently in hard-to-reach places requiring stooping, stretching, bending, and kneeling for extended periods of time. Incumbent climbs ladders and must be able to climb stair towers greater than 100 feet. Accessing work sites often requires walking more than three miles throughout the day and stepping over objects. Incumbent works in confined areas such as attics, near ceilings, in utility corridors, etc. Makes repairs and installations from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, platforms and under floors and crawlspaces and where the systems and equipment worked are hard-to-reach. Is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Incumbent works from various heights on ladders, lifts, and scaffolding. Duties are performed both inside and outside in weather conditions varying from hot, humid summer heat to below freezing winter temperatures. Incumbent is exposed to serious injury when working on energized circuits, adjacent to operating equipment, or from various heights. May be exposed to burns, cuts, bruises, smoke and fumes, flying particles when grinding or cutting, and may suffer discomfort when wearing hoods, goggles, and other personal protective equipment (PPE). Subject to electric shock and falls from ladders; injury from lifting and handling heavy materials and equipment; discomfort from noise, fumes, and vibrations of equipment. Additional information Telework Suitability: The duties of this position are not suitable for core or situational telework, use the Center guidance during an emergency or natural disaster. Stipulations of Employment: As a condition of employment for accepting this position, you may be required to serve a 1-year probationary period or 1 or 2-year trial period during which we will evaluate your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. Work Schedule: This position requires a fixed work schedule Monday - Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM; flexible work schedules will not be authorized. The incumbent may be required to work a schedule that includes Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Incumbent may also be required to work Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and other shifts on an overtime basis with little or no prior notice.
