Summary This position is located at Throckmorton Library, Fort Bragg, NC. Incentives and Bonuses Incentives will not be paid. Army NAF paysetting rules apply to this vacancy. Learn more about this agency Duties Performs a wide variety of public service duties: circulation, reference/readers advisory, database searching, collection maintenance, programming, marketing, displays/publicity, interlibrary loans, reserves. Performs a wide variety of technical service duties: cataloging/copy cataloging, ordering/receiving/processing/accounting for an de-acquisitioning of library materials, shelf inventories. Performs a wide variety of systems application and maintenance which may include standard office software, basic Integrated Library System and PC management. Performs selected administrative management duties to include ensuring internal controls are in place in public services and/or technical services. May manage a branch library or serve as a lead departmental library technician. Trains others in the performance of library technician duties. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation. May perform physical exertion such as long periods of standing, bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, pushing of loaded trucks; and recurring lifting of heavy items such as boxes of books or journals. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities while demonstrating high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and complex situations. Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 35 pounds. Ability to work an irregular schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and split-shifts. A qualified candidate must possess the following: One year of work experience that equipped the applicant with practical knowledge of library or related information services, tools, and methods and procedures. Experience must have been gained at the next lower level. In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified": Demonstrated proficiency in creating, planning, and presenting story times and outreach events that best reflect the community demographics and cultural diversity. Ability of public speaking to large groups. Demonstrated knowledge of computer automated system techniques and computer competencies. Demonstrated knowledge of Integrated Library System for circulating and processing items. Allowances and Differentials This job is part of a pay-banded system. Sunday premium pay for regularly scheduled employees and night differential pay may be authorized by the Garrison Commander.
