Summary About the Position: This position is located in Bethesda, MD with the Defense Health Agency National Capital Region Network Office. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Learn more about this agency Duties Serve as the consulting authority on credentialing, privileging and adverse actions for the Defense Health Network. Prepare and review completed staff actions and studies, as required, expressing conclusions and recommendations that serve as a guide to higher officials Assist in credentialing and privileging actions. Analyze data to identify systemic problems and/or improvement opportunities, based on published national standards of credentialing methodologies that can be used for implementation and educational purposes to reduce or prevent undesired outcomes. Monitor and prepare reports on the status of provider license, certification, and privileging status within the Defense Health Network. Assist in conducting meetings with representatives of network Medical Treatment Facilities for the purpose of coordinating action on projects assigned by higher headquarters. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with Credentialing and Privileging actions for medical professionals; reviewing and providing directions on Adverse Clinical Actions; and reviewing directives, plans, or policies regarding credentialing and privileging of medical professionals. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Certified Professional Medical Staff Services or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position may require a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest.
