Summary
As an Attorney-Advisor (General) at the GS-0905-11, you will be part of the Office of Commissioner Kotagal, U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. If selected, you will be responsible for performing a variety of confidential assignments and duties; advising on policy and legal matters; and assisting the Commissioner in effectively discharging the legal activities of the office.
The selectee will be required to have a duty station at Headquarters or one of the 53 EEOC Field Offices.

Duties
Provides legal advice to the Commissioner on matters before the Commission, including proposed amicus briefs, federal sector decisions, and litigation.
Prepares the Commissioner for speaking engagements, including by drafting talking points and remarks.
Coordinates with stakeholders to organize outreach and education events for workers and advocacy organizations.
Conducts research on pressing legal and policy issues.
Develops content for the Commissioner’s social media accounts.
Schedules the Commissioner’s travel and maintains the Commissioner’s calendar.

Must have an Active BAR Membership in Good Standing. If selected, must maintain active bar membership in good standing while employed as an attorney with the EEOC.
This position is in the Excepted Service.
Qualifications
For the GS-11: You must have earned a professional law degree (J.D. or LL.B.) from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association and be an active member of the BAR.
Professional legal education above the first professional law degree may be substituted for experience required as follows:(a) The second professional law degree (LL.M) may be substituted for one year of experience (b) The third law degree (J.S.D) may be substituted for one year of experience beyond the LL.M.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Additional information
This is an Excepted Service Term Appointment not to exceed July 1, 2027, though it may be extended for a period not to exceed a total of four years. This position will automatically end at the conclusion of the appointment and cannot be converted to a permanent role. This appointment is tied to the Commissioner's term, which is currently scheduled to expire on July 1, 2027. If the Commissioner resigns before that date, your appointment will end on the same day. The agency retains the right to terminate employment at any time during the term appointment period.
Relocation expenses will not be paid.
You will be expected to report to the duty station listed on this announcement.

This position may require the incumbent to complete a confidential financial disclosure report within 30 days of appointment.
This position requires that the successful candidate undergo personnel vetting, which includes a background investigation and enrollment upon onboarding into "Continuous Vetting." Enrollment in Continuous Vetting will result in automated record checks being conducted throughout one's employment with the EEOC. The successful candidate will also be enrolled into FBI's Rap Back service, which will allow the EEOC to receive notification from the FBI of criminal matters (e.g., arrests, charges, convictions) involving enrolled individuals in near real-time.
