Summary About the Position: Serve as Staff Neurologist at Evans Army Community Hospital with Defense Health Agency, Intrepid Spirit Center at Fort Carson, CO. "This is an open continuous announcement. Multiple vacancies exist and may be filled from this announcement at any of the locations listed. Duties Serves as a physician working with Traumatic Brain Injury within the field of Neurology, responsible for the examination, diagnosis, and treatment of the full range of outpatients seen in the Intrepid Spirit Center outpatient clinic. Provide recommendations or definitive evaluation for neurology problems in the referral region through phone consultation, telemedicine, and authorization and evaluation of air evacuation patients as appropriate. Initiates, writes, and dictates medical summaries for the medical retention boards. Writes or dictates physical profiles, medical evaluation boards, fitness for duty evaluations, or other related documentation appropriately. Oversees, teaches, and consults with other health care providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants, medical students, interns, residents, and fellows). Position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Required to wear Personal Protective Equipment. Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician. This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. Required to lift up to 50 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Basic Requirement for Physician (Neurology): Degree: Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must have provided education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts or proof of foreign equivalency with your application package.) Licensure: Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Graduate Training: Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, a candidate must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Residency Training: Applicants must have successfully completed the required accredited residency training in the specialty of the position to be filled (Neurology) and equivalent experience and training equal to at least 4 years. Experience may not be substituted for residency training that is required for the specialty identified. If selected, a salary quote will not be provided to you at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process begins after the initial job offer is accepted. This consists of the Activity Compensation Panel adding base pay and market pay to determine your starting salary and this will be provided to you once approved.
