Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a POLICE OFFICER, Position Description Number T5804900 and is part of the 190th Security Forces SQ Topeka, KS. Kansas Air National Guard. Learn more about this agency Requirements Conditions of Employment Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Must possess a valid Kansas State driver's license prior to appointment Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours; overtime may be required. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have the qualifying general experience that includes experience in administrative, clerical, technical, or military work that involved protecting property, equipment, data, or materials; or that involved making judgments based on the application of directions, rules, regulations, or laws. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have experience that provides the knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills. Physical Demands: Works on different terrain surfaces, in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, materials, weapons, and equipment that may weigh up to 50 pounds. May occasionally handle items that weigh up to 75 pounds. Specialized material handling equipment is available for heavier items. Work Environment: Work will require standing on feet for extended periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds and low/high crawling up to 25 meters. Work may take place in a variety of weather conditions. Work efforts include running short distances and move over, around, and through obstacles to heights of 10 feet. Walking is required (i.e., 1000 meters) and may occur in extreme temperatures over rough terrain. The work is sometimes dirty, dusty, and greasy. Incumbent is frequently exposed to the possibility of noisy conditions that require the use of personal protective equipment (e.g. ear plugs, eye protection, and gloves).
