Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Competitive Service Positions direct hire authority to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: You will serve under the Chief of the Radiological Health Physics Office, as a Health Physicist for the Baltimore District Environmental and munitions Design Center (NAB EMDC).

Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
Incumbent must have completed, or successfully complete, the OSHA-mandated 40 hour training for hazardous waste site operations and maintain an annual refresher.
Incumbent must pass physical for performing work in level "C" personal protection and maintain active participation in the Corps of Engineers medical surveillance program as mandated by OSHA.
Employee must possess and maintain a valid state driverβs license, and be willing to travel up to 50% of the time.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education ad experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. A. Bachelor's degree in natural science or engineering that included at least 30 semester hours in health physics, engineering, radiological science, chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics, and/or calculus. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
Or
B. A combination of education and experience that furnished-- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or other education; or certification as a health physicist by the American Board of Health Physics, plus appropriate experience and other education that provided an understanding of sciences applicable to health physics comparable to that described in paragraph A.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience is defined as:;1) Providing technical health physics expertise in all areas; 2) Reviewing established procedures to assure proper precautions are prescribed for the safety and health of employees and recommend changes when necessary; and 3) Application of health physics principals to the investigation and remediation of contaminated sites.

FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
