Summary This is an unpaid internship for Summer 2026 with the Special Operations Division - Child Care Center.  The District of Columbia Courts offers internships for students interested in seeking valuable experience in court administration. Interns have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to the Courts’ mission to protect rights and liberties, uphold and interpret the law, and resolve disputes fairly and effectively in the District of Columbia. Learn more about this agency Duties This opportunity will provide experience in the following: Provides supervision for the children. This includes playing and being involved while still being sure children are safe and being observed. Assists the early childhood teacher with set-up/clean-up of environment and activities. Assists early childhood teacher in leading a variety of small and large group activities, including crafts, nature, music, and games. Assists the early childhood teacher with interactions with the children, including teaching favorite games, life skills, and musical experiences. Assists early childhood teacher with following the safety guidelines associated with the DC Courts' Child Care program. Requirements Conditions of employment Fingerprint and Child Protection Registry Check. Must be 18 years or older. Must be enrolled as a degree-seeking student. Qualifications Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and able to commit to work a minimum of 8 hours per week.  Be enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited institution. Including but not limited to: technical or vocational institute, junior college, college, university, graduate school, or Law School. Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized by the Immigration and Naturalization Service to intern in the United States. Please note that authorization for the release of your adult criminal record, revealing any convictions and forfeitures, and any criminal cases currently pending before the courts, is required.  If you are selected for the position, a criminal history records check will be conducted. Education To qualify based on education, upload a copy of your college transcript or degree. The transcript must show the name of the college or university, your name, list of courses with credit hours, major(s), and grade-point average or class ranking.Only education or degrees recognized by the U.S. Department of Education from accredited colleges, universities, schools, or institutions may be used to qualify for District of Columbia Courts employment.  You can verify your education here: http://ope.ed.gov/accreditation/.  Foreign Education: If you are using foreign education to meet qualification requirements, you must upload a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with your transcript at time of application to receive credit for that education.
