Summary
About the position:
This position will be assigned to Civil Engineering on Nellis AFB, Nevada.
Flexible employees have no guaranteed hours but may work up to 40 hours per week. This position does not offer benefits.
Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds. Must be able to bend/stoop/stand/reach and work in awkward positions.
Work is performed both inside a warehouse and in surrounding storage areas subject to a variety of weather conditions.

Duties
Collects, received, identifies, sorts, and moves material to the baler, ensuring the material is correct to process. The operation requires the incumbent to identify the recyclable material during the sorting process in accordance with general instructions and standard procedures and policies of the recycle operation. Ensures that all customers who turn-in recyclables sign in the logbook maintained in the recycling center to trach activities and reporting. Operates both a forklift capable of lifting 6,000 pounds and a baler. General operation of the forklift will include moving, loading, unloading transferring, transporting, stacking, and un-stacking recycled material, other goods, boxes, and equipment used by or in support of the recycle operation. Operates forklift to load truck trailers. Maintains the vehicle logbook and equipment as required. Required to drive a pick-up truck used occasionally throughout the base to collect recycle material from operating units on the base. Required to perform operator maintenance such as completing service records and reporting mishaps, or accidents. May be required to drive off-base on public roads and highways. Examines, processes, and classifies a limited variety of common, easily recognized materials. Label all containers properly as to the appropriated content and maintain the containers in a safe, near, and clean manger. Follows established standard operational procedures for the receipt, identification, examination, and processing of recyclable materials. Responsible for the safe and proper operation of the equipment, machinery, vehicle, and tools used and for observing all required operating, and safety criteria regarding the operation and use of these items. Ensures the supplies and equipment are always safeguarded and secure and that ample supplies are on hand to avoid work stopping. Prepares shipping documents with required data. Secure all storerooms as required. Adheres to fire and safety regulations. Assists and provide necessary in formation for the Pollution, Prevention/Compliance subcommittee meeting on a quarterly basis.

This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
This position has physical requirements which require the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess a valid state drivers license.
This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess a valid Forklift Certification.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Qualifying Experience:
Ability to use, control, and clean tools and equipment. Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps. Ability to follow instructions and other requirements related to this position. Must be able to drive and operate a forklift.
Education
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution.
Additional information
U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement.
Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. This includes providing any supporting documents needed for verification.
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at time of hire.
This position requires the incumbent to be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

A probationary period may be required.
Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
