Summary About the Position: This position is located at Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Federal employees in Alaska are currently entitled to receive a 1.49% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change. Learn more about this agency Duties Collect, track, and report required data by military Credentialing, Privileging and Risk Management Offices on Health Care Practitioners within their facilities and for readiness and humanitarian missions. Review medical staff, clinical performance improvement, and leadership standards from Federal and civilian accrediting agencies and analyzes impact on Medical Treatment Facility policy and procedures. Identify opportunities for improvement, resolves problems, and evaluates the effectiveness of change in regard to competency information. Develop short- and long-range plans to meet mission requirements for execution of various program initiatives and sustainment plans to ensure providers are ready to practice and/or deploy immediately. Research, clarify, analyze, and apply accrediting agency standards and regulatory policies and guidance. Prepare the organization for inspections and accreditation surveys and serves as an internal resource and liaison to accrediting and inspection agencies. Manage the credentials of health care personnel, tracks expiration dates and provides notifications prior to the deadlines, and initiates timely and appropriate actions regarding deficient provider credentials. Maintain evidence, documents and communications related to actual ligation, investigation, and/or privileging actions affecting health care providers if required. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. This position is designated as moderate risk involving Public Trust. Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation including a credit check to determine suitability for Federal employment and/or the position. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 25 pounds is required. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting with a credentialing and privileging program, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, analyzing data, using various automated systems, and generating reports. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in hospital administration, public health administration, or related fields such as business or public administration with course work in health care administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
