Learn more about this agency Duties The Deputy Director’s (DD) at the National Gallery of Art priorities and management activities, including liaising with DD department heads, supporting the formulation of goals and tracking systems and facilitating communication with other divisions. Duties for this position include; Defines and aligns program goals with Gallery-wide strategic priorities. Develops short- and long-term plans to achieve measurable strategic outcomes. Leads comprehensive program evaluations and administers management reporting systems to support executive decision-making. Leads the full lifecycle of DD projects. Develops project documentation and coordinates stakeholder approvals. Applies project management best practices to control scope, schedule, cost, quality and risk. Tracks key performance indicators and implements quality assurance processes. Acts as DD representative cross-Gallery working groups. Builds and sustains collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners. Represents the agency in professional associations, contributing to policy discussions and knowledge exchange. Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities and personnel management. Provides direction and supervision to DD staff during periods of leadership transition. Qualifications Specialized Experience Statement: Candidates must possess at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-14 level in the Federal service or private sector a) Leading and integrating complex management and communication systems to support organizational business needs, including analyzing large, diverse datasets; identifying risks and conflicts; and producing high-level reports, briefings, and executive correspondence for senior leadership. b) Applying advanced program and project management principles to oversee multi-dimensional initiatives, including strategic planning, lifecycle management, stakeholder engagement, and organizational process improvement, while delivering mission-critical outcomes in ambiguous or high-visibility environments. AND c) Coordinating across organizational units and executive leadership, utilizing strong communication and interpersonal skills to resolve challenges, align priorities, and support decision-making, while serving as a liaison on personnel, budget, and administrative matters.
