Summary This position is located at Recreational Shooting Complex which is on Fort Benning, with Family & Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR). Incentives and Bonuses Incentives and bonuses will not be paid. Duties Executes range facility opening, closing and operating procedures in accordance with installation, local, and federal laws. Including transporting guns and ammunition to the range on a daily basis. Maintains communications and follows instructions of the installation range control agency to ensure safe operations. Coordinates medical support through the installation range control agency. Conducts facility and range maintenance. Instructs patrons on range safety practices and provides general fire arm and marksmanship information. Responsible for all safety issues in the operation of the range. Performs cashier duties and maintains records of sales. Ensures proper handling storage, accountability, inventory of ammunition and firearms. Issues ammunition and range related accessories to customers, checks ID, and collects fees. Checks inventory and supplies and reorders supplies as needed. Coordinates league, competition, and group functions. Schedules use of range and conducts briefings. Demonstrates techniques and instructs participants in the use of equipment. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Able to obtain current Installation Range Certification Card, National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Safety Officer Certification, or equivalent certification within 60 days of entrance on duty. Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds without assistance and heavier loads with assistance. Must meet age restrictions for the handling of firearms. Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP) as required by Army Regulation 600-85. Resumes should clearly demonstrate the applicant's relevant experience, skills, knowledge and abilities as they pertain to this position. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Prior experience with firing range operations, skeet and trap and firearm safety, and firearms instruction. Must possess basic knowledge of National Skeet Shooting Association (NSSA) rules and scoring. Knowledge of and ability to use a computer and cash register. Possess good customer service skills and have experience working with the general public. Must be able to obtain current instructor-level certification in (at minimum) basic shotgun shooting, and range safety officer, from a recognized national governing body (e.g. NSSA, NRA, NSCA, NACFI, etc.) within 60 days of entrance on duty. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
