Summary This position serves as a Supply Technician at the William S. Middleton VA Medical Center, Madison, WI and is responsible to ensure that adequate supplies are on hand to provide prosthetic equipment to patients. Learn more about this agency Duties ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Major duties and responsibilities include: Verifies that adequate supplies of Prosthetic and Orthotic items are on hand to provide for patient services. Recommends stock levels, maintains stock issues and accountability for appliances. Receives all incoming stock to inventory system, processes receiving documents for all items received. Manages the receipt, distribution, and stock maintenance of items received from the warehouse and from outside vendors. Investigates and reconciles routine and recurring discrepancies relating to actions such as receipt control, stock control, reorder points and inventory adjustments. Assembles some of the durable medical equipment such as walkers. Maximizes storage space available, and ensures that all work areas are clear of debris for easy flow of stock. Maintains all inventory barcode label levels in order to maintain consistent label to stock ratio. Delivers supplies to other clinic locations in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring supplies and materials deliveries are in sterile and operational condition. Performs other duties as assigned. Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959 Physical Requirements: Work involves exertion such as frequently lifting and carrying light-to-medium weight objects (10 to 30 pounds) and continually walking, bending, stooping and reaching. Upon receipt of inventory, the employee will push loaded carts, store and issue items in crowded quarters while handling some awkward, hard-to-handle items. Qualifications IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR THIS POSITION AT THE GS-5 LEVEL YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: You must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level of Federal service. Qualifying specialized experience includes providing supplies and material to clinical and administrative areas of a complex health care facility; monitoring expiration dates; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing medical and surgical supplies, instruments and other material; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory. (THIS EXPERIENCE MUST BE SUPPORTED BY YOUR RESUME TO BE CREDITABLE.) ~OR~ EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: You must have successfully completed 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must be obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
