Summary About the Position: This position is located at Fort Irwin, California. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Advanced leave accrual may be authorized. A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Learn more about this agency Duties Perform testing of medical equipment and peripheral devices. Ensure medical equipment is compliant with the most stringent standards and regulatory guidance. Operate test measurement and diagnostic equipment to evaluate equipment function. Install and maintain hardware and software for medical systems. Ensure medical equipment maintenance actions are performed in accordance with equipment service agreements. Input maintenance data into the automated information management system. Troubleshoot medical equipment and devices to resolve intricate technical problems to make the appropriate on-site repairs. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption. A pre-placement medical examination is required. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. Moderate to heavy lifting up to 60 pounds is required. Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: installing or repairing medical equipment and/or systems; OR performing diagnostics or calibration of medical equipment; OR conducting preventative maintenance on medical equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
