Summary About the Position: This position is located in A.T. Augusta Military Center in Fort Belvoir, VA. This position is as a Behavioral Health Consultant who will serve as a consultant to the Primary Care team. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Duties Demonstrates expertise conducting DSM-based diagnostic assessments and differential diagnoses. Manages high-risk patients including suicidal ideation, trauma exposure, substance use disorders, and acute psychiatric presentations. Delivers brief evidence-based interventions (e.g., CBT, behavioral activation, motivational interviewing) in a fast-paced primary care setting. Applies biopsychosocial evaluations to propose behavioral health interventions. Provides evidence-based treatment, including behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches. Provides concise feedback on the status of referred patients, to include recommendations for team-based care. Implements psychoeducational classes to target high frequency diagnoses found in the primary care clinic. Documents information in the electronic health record during patient encounters. This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment. Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position. This position has mandatory seasonal Influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal Influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire). This position requires the incumbent to have Tuberculosis testing. This position requires the incumbent to fulfill credentialing requirements and obtain and maintain appropriate/relevant clinical privileges. Provides individual and group treatment, using various modalities as clinically indicated to include brief problem-focused interventions, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and psychoeducational classes. This position requires successful completion of mandatory DHA PCBH BHC training confirmed by a DHA PCBH Program Manager within 3 months of hire (unless DHA is unable to provide the training within 3 months). This position requires that you obtain and maintain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS. The incumbent will require a License in Clinical Psychology. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Basic Requirements for Clinical Psychologist (Behavioral Health Consultant), GS-13: Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting behavioral health assessments; providing individual and group treatment; and working as part of a multidisciplinary team. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). License: This position requires a current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
