You will serve as a PRODUCTION CONTROLLER (SHIPS) for CVN-68 Class RCOH Program Office.

Duties
You will be assigned as an Availability Manager (AM) for aircraft carrier complex overhauls and for execution of one of serval major ship work categories.
You will be responsible for contract review and execution, work specification review, performance of shipchecks, and developing execution work packages.
You will oversee major work categories that include structural (hull), propulsion machinery, combat systems, auxiliary, electrical, refueling and nuclear systems.
You will assess lessons learned from current and previous overhauls and apply them to current initiatives to ensure continuing improvements are made to successive availabilities.
You will serve as the SUPSHIPNN point of contact on matters pertaining to assigned major work areas of the overhaul project.
You will analyze requests to add or delete work and advise as to the probable effect to the ship’s overhaul schedule of adding or deleting work from the overhaul work package.
You will act as financial manager regarding overhaul funding for assigned areas and assures funds are adequately and timely provided to prevent impact on the work.
You will anticipate and assist in preventing delays and in resolving problems which can affect end cost, schedule and performance of the contract schedules.
You will review proposed changes to the overhaul work package for technical accuracy of documentation for the change and make initial determination.
You will establish procedures for the overall coordination of ship’s trials and INSURV and arranges for required services, schedules, agenda test forms and trial riders.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final SECRET security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications
Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level GS-11 or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector coordinating nuclear propulsion plant production planning, scheduling and contract review to support the execution of a nuclear ship repair or overhaul project.
