Summary

This position is located in the Protection Directorate at the United States Bullion Depository (USBD) at Fort Knox, KY. The incumbent reports directly to and receives direction from the Chief of Maintenance. The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair the facilities security systems, computer systems, electronic and electrical distribution systems; and assist in maintaining the interior/exterior of the structure including buildings, fixtures, utilities, and grounds.

  • All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines.

  • Secret Clearance- Must successfully complete a background investigation.

  • Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis.
  • May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical examination.
  • Must pass a drug test - All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and random drug testing while the position is occupied.

To meet the screen-out element, applicants must have: The ability to perform the full range of duties as an Electronics Mechanic. Duties include: inspections of electronic equipment, use test equipment to diagnose malfunctions, troubleshoot to determine cause of malfunction; Inspections include, but not limited to: smoke detectors, heat detectors, fire alarm systems, infrared detectors, ultrasonic detectors, photoelectric detectors, pressure mats, magnetic contacts, intrusion alarm control panels, two way radio alarm signaling systems; Interpret plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, repair manuals and related codes. Must be skilled in completing repairs of electronic equipment using hand and power tools. Must be able to work on your own initiative under general supervision subject to occasional inspection.In addition, you must also obtain an average score of two (2) for the following elements for this position as addressed through the online question in order to be considered minimally qualified.
