Summary This position is located at Holbrook Recreation and Campground, Fort Stewart, GA. This is a Regular Full-Time position with a minimum work week of 40 hours and eligible for benefits. Learn more about this agency Duties Works alone or in a group performing a variety of tasks involving the maintenance and repair of recreational grounds, buildings and structures, and appurtenant fixtures. Carpentry: Measures, cuts, constructs and/or repairs wood, composite building materials, and wood substitute items. Uses tools such as hammers, chisels, handsaws, planes, screwdrivers, and glue guns, power saws/sanders/drills. Electrical/Plumbing: As needed, replaces worn or broken wall switches and outlets. Replaces ceiling light and/or burned out bulbs. Repairs faucets, resets toilets, and lavatories. Performs other easily accomplished repairs. Laborer: Loads and unloads heavy boxes, bulky supplies, and materials to and from trucks, dollies, etc. Moves heavy boxes/cartons by hand or dolly. Opens crates and boxes using crowbar, cuts band using shears, stacks boxes and cartons. Vehicle Operation: May be required to drive vehicles up to and including a 5-ton truck to move furniture to various buildings on the installation. Performs related duties and other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of employment Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required. Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. A one-year probationary period may be required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para. 2, to include completing a Tier 1 background investigation. Satisfactory completion of physical examination. Possession of a valid driver's license to operate assigned government vehicles. Must maintain a current driver's license while in this job. A qualified candidate must possess the following: Ability to communicate in English at a level to assure the duties described can be accomplished in a safe and satisfactory manner. Allowances and Differentials This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM. Non-foreign overseas allowances, cost of living (COLA), and differentials will not be paid, contingent upon eligibility.
