Summary About the Position: This position serves as a Testing Clerk with the Fort Dix Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS). The MEPS plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the military services. The mission of the Fort Dix MEPS is to process individuals for enlistment/induction into the armed services. Duties Conduct aptitude and qualification examinations at MEPS and Military Entrance Test (MET) sites for applicants of various armed services. Briefs applicants, distributes and proctors examinations, scores exams, performs quality control of examination and applicable application information. Performs data entry of exam results and information into a reporting system. Ensures 100% security and accountability of all accountable test material. Assists in the conduct of test material inventories as required and ensures strict accountability and security of all testing materials. Requirements Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Must be able to cross-train in other functions of MEPS (such as processing) and performs these functions as required. Must be in possession or have the ability to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license in one of the 50 U.S. States or possessions. Incumbent will be required to handle accountable test material. Will be required to conduct test sessions at remote sites, to include administration of high school tests at inner city, rural, and/or at risk schools with large populations (greater than 100 students) Occasional evening and weekend work is required (if the MEPS conducts night testing, this work will entail night shift work when the Test Clerk is the only employee in the building) and detailed below: If applicable, Evenings: 1130-2000, Saturdays: 0530-1430, Sundays: 1400-2000, Morning Opening Shift: 0530–1430. Frequent local travel and occasional temporary duty assignment (TDY) travel may be required (may require hotel stay for multiple nights to meet mission requirements) Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Conducting standardized examination sessions in a controlled environment; AND 2) Briefing applicants on examination practices and procedures; AND 3) Utilizing automated systems to enter and retrieve data; AND 4) Safeguarding sensitive or controlled testing materials and applicant packages. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
