Summary About the position: This position is Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Moose Run Golf Course on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. This is a Seasonal position Not-To-Exceed 31-OCT-2026. This position is Flexible, meaning you are guaranteed a minimum of 0 hours per week to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Your schedule will depend on needs of the facility. Duties The incumbent performs significant labor involved with golf course grounds maintenance. Operates heavy, complex riding lawn mowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment (e.g., multiple and independently controlled cutting decks, single function components) and/or specially designed riding mowers that operate on slopes and require constant attention to working space and environment. Operates various controls and levers to maneuver equipment and lift, lower, adjust, engage, and disengage components or attached devices when working around: trees, greens, aprons, tees, fence lines, banks and hillsides, cart paths, sand bunkers, tee markers and cups on greens, trenches, slopes, curbs, rocks and other visible obstacles. Determines and selects the most appropriate type of equipment to accomplish each phase of the work in the most productive and cost-effective manner. Completes all aspects of special assignments involving several steps, phases or detailed procedures (e.g., preparing ground, laying sod, planting flowers or shrubs and using simple drawings to establish a planting pattern and/or design). The laborer installs forms and lays walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes; excavates and backfills ditches and trenches with hand tools; repairs and replaces pipe on irrigation systems; and may be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks or other equipment. This position has physical lifting requirement which requires the incumbent to complete a favorable pre-employment physical. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. The duties of this position require the incumbent to provide current Driving Record. The incumbent must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Preferred to have the ability to operate large, complex riding mowers and similar types of specialized mowing equipment. Practical knowledge of golf activities and equipment is preferred but not required. Preferred to have experience using, controlling, and cleaning common hand tools and simple power equipment. Must have the ability to independently complete assignments involving several steps, phases, or procedures and the ability to follow written and oral instructions. Must be able to read, write, and speak English. Must have the ability to lift and move heavy objects weighing over 50 pounds. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement..
