Summary Sheridan VAMC is a 205-bed medical center, with 54 well maintained buildings on a 296-acre campus. Our primary catchment area extends to veterans from Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, Utah, and portions of Idaho and we serve as the psychiatry tertiary referral site. The bed complement includes 50 psychiatric, 23 medical, 50 extended care, 40 mental health residential beds, and a 45 Domiciliary Residential Treatment Program for Homeless Veterans. Learn more about this agency Duties Major duties and responsibilities, but is not limited to: - The position is located at the Sheridan Wyoming Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Facilities Management Service (FMS). The incumbent is considered a working supervisor in charge of all activities assigned and performed by the Grounds Team. Performs supervision duties necessary to provide vehicle fleet management and grounds maintenance requirements. Must be in possession of a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and a valid Agency Identification Card and maintain a driving record in good standing at all times. Proof of CDL must be obtained from the Wyoming Department of Transportation upon request. - Schedules maintenance and repairs on GSA and station-owned vehicles, grounds maintenance equipment, and emergency generators. Vehicles and equipment includes, but is not limited to, passenger cars, dump truck, passenger vans, multiple sized-passenger buses, trash truck, maintenance utility vehicles, pickup trucks, tractors, front end loader, backhoe, grounds mowers, and diesel powered generators. Equipment must be maintained in an operable state of repair to provide transportation, emergency patient evacuation, emergency electrical power for the station, grounds maintenance, snow removal, and trash collection. - Schedules and maintains necessary transportation requirements for GSA and VA vehicles located throughout the Sheridan WY VAHCS catchment area. Maintains vehicles in a safe and dependable condition. Schedules and coordinates the usage of vehicles and personnel to assure total utilization of available resources to promote economical and quality transportation. Responsible for obtaining operator driving records and assuring license validity for motor vehicle operators and incidental operators. Maintains required data on workload, expenditures other items required for various VA and GSA programs, along with fleet reports for fuel consumption and vehicle acquisition. Coordinates with between GSA and end users on vehicle modification requests, vehicle replacements and other issues. - Schedules and directs necessary grounds maintenance requirements. Work consists of, but not limited to, trimming of weeds, cutting and trimming approximately 200 acres of lawn, reseeding, planting grass, trimming around buildings, trees and signs, and picking up litter, limbs, leaves, and debris. Oversees the operation and maintenance of the irrigation system for the campus. Maintains roads and parking lots and performs repairs, patching, cleaning, and contracts for new asphalt as required. Provides emergency sewer jetting/vacuuming for storm and sanitary sewer blockages and flooded manholes. - Exercises supervision over the daily activities of a full-time staff assigned to assist in carrying out the functions of the unit. Assures the effective and efficient administration of activities supervised. Develops performance standards. Recommends changes in position classification. Finds and implements ways to eliminate or reduce significant bottlenecks and barriers to production, promotes team building or improve business practices. Physical Requirements/Working Conditions: This position requires walking, standing, bending, sitting, crawling and climbing. Incumbent must have good vision, with or without glasses. Functional requirements include: Heavy lifting, 45 pounds and over. Heavy carrying, 45 pounds and over. Reaching above shoulder. Use of fingers, both hands, and both legs. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, or motor vehicle. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish shades of color. Hearing (aid permitted) for conversation. Emotional and mental stability. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
