Summary As a Security Specialist with NASA's Office of Protective Service, you will be responsible for assisting in the overall management and administration of the Physical Security Program. You will work with a team of highly skilled Security Specialists, interact daily with internal and external stakeholders while assisting with or leading physical security related initiatives as outlined in agency and federal policies. Learn more about this agency Duties Perform risk assessments analyses of operations, facilities, and assets to ensure appropriate implementation and maintenance of security systems, including access control, alarms, and surveillance systems. Assist with the development, implementation and maintenance of procedures and technical methods to enhance physical protection at the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and all component facilities, to protect NASA assets and interests. Perform work involving physical security measures to safeguard personnel, facilities, information, and critical assets at NASA facilities. Continuously assesses procedures to recommend improvements and changes to enhance overall security. Directly responsible for development and tracking of Metrics data and the implementation and maintenance of a dashboard for the tracking of trends for mitigation and operational resource management, and infrastructure improvement initiatives. Uses qualitative and quantitative techniques to identify, evaluate, and recommend management actions for resolving issues. Develops and prepares briefings and status reports that foster understanding and acceptance of findings and recommendations. Serves as an armed NASA Special Agent with Federal Arrest Authority. Perform criminal and administrative investigations, including interviewing subjects, witnesses, and victims in coordination with the Center Protective Services office. Conduct investigative activities including case reviews, surveillance operations, evidence collection, and prepare written investigative reports and provide findings to leadership and appropriate authorities to support investigative actions. Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. To qualify for GS-12, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level: Analyzing, formulating, and making recommendations for the development and implementation of the center physical security plans. Participating with team members that directly engage in physical security program management and policy development for a center. Assisting in the design and oversight of implementing physical security solutions to protect personnel, facilities and equipment.
