Duties
The Staff Physical Therapist is assigned to the Physical Therapy Department within Pain Management and Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS) at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System (VANIHCS). Incumbent has the ability to use professional knowledge effectively and must possess initiative, tact, resourcefulness, and good judgment in exercising authority. The Staff Therapist is responsible for completing neuromusculoskeletal evaluations and treatments. They are required to apply evaluation methodologies and treatment theories in the provision of care to a vast array of functional impairments and patients.

Work Schedule: Fee basis- Intermittent hours per week 730-4pm

Qualifications
Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria).
Preferred Experience: 1-2 years preferred experience as a Physical Therapist.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically, mentally and emotionally able to efficiently perform the essential functions of the position without hazard to themselves or others. Must have usable vision, color vision, hearing, or speech. However, these impairments will not automatically disqualify an applicant for appointment. The loss of any of these functions may be compensated for by the satisfactory use of a prosthesis or mechanical aid. Must be able to sit, stand, bend, twist and lift/push/pull up to 40pounds

Receiving Service Credit for Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave: Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
