Job Description
Carilion Clinic is searching for a third pediatric surgeon to join an established group of two
experienced pediatric surgeons in Roanoke, Virginia. Carilion Children's Hospital serves as the
tertiary referral center for 185,000 children in southwest Virginia and provides a full range of
pediatric services including the only designated Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center west of Richmond.
Carilion Children’s is located within Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, a 763- bed
teaching/tertiary care center, and is comprised of an 8-bed PICU, a 27-bed inpatient unit, a 60-bed
NICU/intermediate nursing unit, and a 27 bed Pediatric Emergency Department. Â Ground and air
transportation services are provided by a pediatric critical care transport team. The Section of
Pediatric Surgery is in the Department of Surgery which is comprised of 77 faculty surgeons, 55
advanced care practitioners, and 47 residents/fellows general surgery, plastic surgery, and
neurosurgery residencies and surgical critical care and advanced GI/Minimally Invasive Surgery
fellowships. Carilion Clinic is closely affiliated with the Virginia Tech Carilion School of
Medicine, with associated research and student teaching opportunities available. Enjoy working with

cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, pulmonology, endocrinology, neonatology, neurosurgery, and

position includes the opportunity for academic appointment to VTCSOM, and research interests are

Minimum Requirements: ABMS/AOA-BE/BC and fellowship trained in Pediatric Surgery Active and
unencumbered medical license
