Summary
This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties
You will serve as an Antenna Mechanic er, Telecommunication Department in Cutler, Maine.
You will assist on jobs such as repairing antenna panels, retensioning guy wires, repairing grounding system components and sea terminals, and performing maintenance and repairs on VLF bushings and, electronic components.
You will help repair and maintain the over 50 million dollars VIF antenna network consisting of 26-800 to 980 foot steel towers.
You will help in continuous visual inspection, looking for cables out of place, structural damage, and electrical wiring.
You will help in inspecting and repairing guy anchor grounds, checking the guy tension, and checking tower profile.
You will help replace defective jumpers in the cross arm section, inspect bushings, inspect and repair helix coil, variometers, inspect and repair helix house wood structures, inspect and repair helix house ground connections.
You will change oil in gear boxes, grease hoist spindles, grease hoist, inspect hoist drums and changes gear lubricant.
You will perform other duties as assigned.

Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

This is a bargaining unit position.
You will be required to obtain and maintain a current annual cardio-pulmonary-resuscitation certification.
You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: THE ABILITY TO WORK WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION such as:
Ability to assist in the repair and maintenance of the VLF antenna network; annual inspection programs, changing oil in gear boxes, grease sheaves on top of towers, etc.
Ability to climb up to 980 feet in height while carrying his trade tools.
Ability to use small hand tools, power assist equipment, and motor vehicle equipment.
Ability to perform work on the towers where only spot checks of work accomplishment will be made due to the difficulty of climbing towers.

This is a permanent seasonal position.
T3 background investigation required.
This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
