This role performs administrative tasks, maintains broad knowledge of the division and SAA office, and ensures compliance with legal requirements, House Rules, and policies. It develops and implements policies, structure, and strategy while collaborating with leadership and stakeholders to align priorities with the mission. This role performs administrative tasks, maintains broad knowledge of the division and SAA office, and ensures compliance with legal requirements, House Rules, and policies.Duties: Typical duties include, but are not necessarily limited to:Answers telephone and routes calls to appropriate persons or divisions.Performs various administrative assignments.Sorts and distributes incoming mail.Assists visitors to the office who have appointments.Maintains handout literature regarding the Office of the Sergeant at Arms.Assists with scheduling meetings and room preparation.Monitors delivery and pick-up of materials.Assists with Member Services to include the distribution of Member pins, plates, and tour requests.Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies.Maintains all Capitol Plaza and Congressional drive parking requests for the House of Representatives.Maintains office filing system.Monitors office voicemail.Assists with special events on and off Capitol grounds as needed.Supports House Operations Recovery structure.Performs other duties as assigned. Ability to develop data warehouses and information management systems to improve the accuracy, integrity, accessibility, and security of data and information at the Sergeant at Arms.Resource Management - Knowledge of principles, techniques, and best practices related to financial, budget, contract, and inventory management and the ability to apply them to ensure persistent, responsible, and successful program operations.Work Schedule:Full-time, permanent. Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Physical Requirements and Work Environment:This position operates in both a typical office environment and a field environment (e.g., House buildings, garages, grounds, facilities, checkstands, etc.), which is subject to typical weather conditions and temperatures. Actual weight handled varies, but the role involves handling items including books, documents, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
